The Astarian Empire Military Ships

The ships of the empire are those which sail the vast oceans of space in their galactic conquest of domination and destruction. The ships in the empire are unique as they are all purpose warships capable of holding a few fighters replacing the need for Carriers. As a need for ships in both sea and space, the empire changed their design philosophy and adapted to multipurpose ships. These new warships are made on world under the worlds gravity which makes it capable of entering atmospheres. Since it is a fully sealed ship, it uses specialized barriers to launch fighters and mechs even in space. The water tight space hull fully allows for ships to act as super effective warships on water. To camouflage them, they are built to look like actual water based warships, although it is a larger waste of materials and resources to produce, the fact they can fly from the water and chase their target can make for interesting situations. 

Ship operations within the empire follow a standard combat flow: Break the enemy's shields with the MAC cannons then bombard them with everything else.

This combat style has led back to the more ancient warfare era when soldiers would line up and fire their weapons then reload. As their ships will take the hits then fire entire volleys of ordinance, the enemy will fall with fear in their eyes as their weapons are rendered ineffective.

The bulk of warships is made up primarily of Cruiser class ships. Where more Destroyers and Frigates are used for basic Exploration, the Battleship class ships are for entire sector control or for engaging entire fleets. Over design, over engineered, over gunned, these large ships are outfitted with only large cannons but their numbers will send entire walls of ordinance.

Ship Description:


The transport ship was designed to be as large as possible as it carries huge amounts of supplies, troops, vehicles, or other needed things into battle. Ship Description:


The transport ship was designed to be as large as possible as it carries huge amounts of supplies, troops, vehicles, or other needed things into battle. Equipped with a plasma cannon on top and gatling lasers on the side, they can be switched out for a twin linked super tank cannon and auto cannon turrets to deal with AA on other non space battlefields. An even larger, more heavily armored variant which can store entire companies of ground forces or supplies for an entire base. Many times they are loaded with base supplies and then they embark onto the ground in a slow moving crawl as it can set up an entire base or turn into a vehicle and mech bay.

Ship Description:


The dropship was designed to be as quick as possible as it is used to transport squads of troops quickly off ship. It can hold a few squads of soldiers and when in great need it can be crammed full of people in the event of an emergency. Acting as a highly mobile stealth craft, the only time it isn't in stealth is when it needs to fire its main weapons. It is equipped with a Plasma Cannon and Gatling Laser Platforms allowing it to fight smaller ships like a bee protecting its hive. When being used on world or on the sea, the wing pieces will be removed and it will be a ground based boat launching troop transport. The guns are changed to twin linked super tank cannons and autocannons for a more fitting experience.

Ship Description:


The larger and heavier dropship was designed to be as quick as possible while still carrying a large amount of troops and light armor. It is used to transport squads of troops and armor quickly off ship or around the battlefield in a stealthy manner. It is equipped with a Plasma Cannon, Laser Cannons and Gatling Laser Platforms allowing it to fight smaller ships. When being used on world or on the sea, the wing pieces will be removed and it will be a ground based boat launching troop transport. The guns are changed to twin linked super tank cannons and autocannons for a more fitting experience.

Ship Description:


The general all purpose fighter of the galactic empire. As they are outfitted with the best radar and technology available, when needed to use their early war variant or the Aero - P1AN3, its weapons and systems are changed for on world use. The fighter is highly capable and maneuverable in the tightest of spaces as it uses advanced ai and on board nav. The fighter has a Gatling Laser Cannon mounted on the top which can be changed into an Autocannon platform. This allows it to retain its primary weapon while keeping with the theming of the aircraft and needs of combat. It has a torpedo bay located on the bottom of the craft which allows it to be effective in any role it may need to be as well as using the torpedo for anti ship and anti starship capabilities. The turrets on the side are actually repurposed tank cannons, a 1 meter cannon firing 75mm shells. This allows them to be highly effective at shooting down other aircraft due to their light armor. The skills needed to use tank cannons and not missiles is highly respected within the empire and pilots are treated better than most others, especially on ships. Due to the few pilots available, generally they function 2 per craft in shifts to stay in combat as long as possible.

Ship Description:


A smaller, highly nimble fast attack warship with a small shield breaking MAC cannon and light laser weaponry. They are mainly used for scouting and exploration based ventures within the galactic map. On the Sea it is considered a larger ship by enemy forces at the size of a large Frigate. When the ship needs to be used in naval warfare on the oceans of a world, its space weaponry is replaced with its alternative sea weaponry.

Ship Description:


The first and smallest of warships that is primarily used for combat purposes, it features 4 platforms for weapon systems in the corners as well as large guns down the mid-line. With the standard combat systems of the empire, their flow follows the break and eliminate strategy. The MAC cannon fires or Torpedoes are used to break shields as an endless volley of lasers erupt to destroy the enemy ships one at a time. As they were highly capable in space they were sought after for use on the sea being the size of heavier cruiser class ships. Their guns were replaced with double super tank cannons which fire 150mm shells and they had their corner weapon emplacements changed to the Auto Cannons for AA purposes. Although they have great power compared to most of the enemy ships they may fight in combat but are lacking versus the heavier cruiser and battleship classes. They were highly accurate and over 80% of their shots hit the target due to the advanced AI systems on board allowing them to become feared enemies whenever a ship was around. Faster, more accurate, and having adaptable systems makes the empire ships more like mercenaries for higher as they join fleet combat when needed.

Ship Description:


The main combat ship across the empire which is seen in almost every conflict and war. The destroyer class ship has a great balance between speed and firepower as it can take hits and destroy ships one after another. On sea these ships are usually referred to as a Battleship class ship due to their large size and huge sea guns. Replacing the double barreled super tank cannons with triple barrel super tank cannons made sure this ship would excel at both anti-ship and land based sieges. Although it lacks the firepower of actual battleships it was pitted against in combat, the high mobility and ability to deliver constant hits made the ship excel in every sea conflict it was in. As a few of the ships fell the enemy was in a cheerful frenzy thinking they were sinking the powerful battleships which prowled across the water, to their horror the empire just sent many more to deal with this new conflict.

Ship Description:


The heavy combat ship of the Astarian Empire. The standard of all Cruiser Class ships, it features a powerful shield generator linked to its own power system, a large MAC Cannon capable of breaking enemy shields, and laser and magical cannons on the sides. Featuring heavy armor, it is a combat warship usually leading smaller fleets of destroyer and frigate class ships. Although a heavier cruiser class ship variant is available, very few of them are made due to the cost when compared to a battleship class ship. The Light Cruiser class ship or Cruiser is an all purpose ship with high defensive capabilities. Holding the line on the galactic edge of space, they keep the peace as well as hold against enemy fleets with high odds.

Ship Description:

The heavier, more gunned version of the Light Cruiser. Featuring the same size, it has much more cannons on it to add more firepower. Due to the extra cost, most of the guns are mismatched as it is hard to get that many weapons and keep them in good condition.Very few of these ships are active as a battleship is larger and has better armor and power generation. Although they are  still in use by Magistrates and their system leadership, it is more cost effective to instead field battleships over heavy cruisers.

The battleship class warship stands at the peak of weaponry across the empire. They are behemoths across the vast space featuring multiple sections of gun turrets allowing it to take on the entire bulk of a fleet. Acting as resource and munitions centers, each battleship can be equipped with a forge onboard and make munitions for other ships across the fleet. Using their massive bays, they can field many assault mechs and fighters when needed. Most battleships operate on the defensive line or in a few combat skirmishes, but many of them are the flagships of the Supreme beings. The standard frame of the battleship is kept intact as the armor and other decorative equipment and coverings are placed on top to signify where the battleship serves. Even though Magistrates and Supremes may have a battleship or two at their disposal, when in times of need they are used for military operations across the galactic empire. Many of the enemies of the empire have ships far larger and more powerful then the standard battleships, however the armor and weapon usage of the empire are second to none. With a single skilled crew of a battleship, an entire armada can be easily defeated in combat 8/10 times. The battleship's top guns are in sections allowing the battleship to destroy 3 major ships at once with the tried and true empiric method of break and sink which is popular across the fleet. The huge MAC cannons devastated enemy capital ship shields in just a few hits while their overwhelming volley of high powered lasers which destroy all ships with ease.

With the rise of enemy capital ships being the size of entire moons, and up to thousands of km in length, the Mega Battleship was created. This is a much larger and super heavily armed weapon of galactic destruction which is set out on major attack missions and war starters. They have removed the ship bay and instead have a massive manufacturing plant allowing them to make a huge supply of munitions and supplies as a single mega battleship will act as an entire support hub for a battlefield. As the enemy goes to attack their supply lines they find not a convoy of transport ships but a massive resupply battleship with the heaviest of weapons available.

Ship Description:


The role of the Carrier Class ship only seems to exist within the confines of a world where their main ship combat includes naval ships. As starships rise to power they themselves have their own fighters and mecha aboard them, this makes the argument that a carrier style ship doesn’t need to exist in the modern fleet setting. To counter this, the empire has created Carrier Class ships that operate as miniature space stations and ports. It offers repairs and training aboard its multitude of sections across the ship. These ships are so large they can house entire cities with millions of people within them if needed. The side ports are meant to secure and hold up to Battleship Class Ships as the Carrier warps to their destination and is protected by the Carrier Defensive Systems. The repair sections on top and bottom of the ship can repair ships of any size and class as they link to the Carrier Class Ship. As ships come in different sizes they take more room or sections to use. Ships Smaller than Cruiser Class Ships only take a single repair slot while the Cruiser Class Ships will take 2 repair slots. Battleships take 3 spots while a carrier can repair another carrier as it links upside down. This allows it to also carry a small fleet into battle as it operates as a carrier of naval times would. The Carrier has a super powerful shield generator and solar adaptors to enhance the energy consumption rate. As the ship is able to walk hits off, it can deal damage with its Plasma Cannons. Unfortunately it can’t be more gunned due to the energy consumption rate requirements. At full cannon firing, the energy consumption is 22%, allowing 78% of the energy to be used in shielding the fleet. Each Repair Section and Workshop has their own power generator making sure no systems are without power unless damaged, power can then be rerouted as needed.

The role of the Super Carrier Class ship is to carry an entire fleet of Carrier Ships and other ships to a destination. The Super Carrier is able to fully repair Carrier Class Ships and Battleships in the same repair slot. The side slots have been equipped with repair cranes and are able to repair Cruiser Class Ships and Smaller. As this acts as a fleets hub, the High Admirals and Fleet Admirals will use this as their strategic command.
