Description
Mormidons are a hybrid aquatic serpent race which developed large serpentine bodies with their upper bodies taking on unique traits from the creatures of Wateria lost to time. While many of the creatures lived in a world's ancient past far longer than most of the other creatures, the Mormidon have predated them by living in the lowest depths in a city lit by glowing magic crystals. The bright light keeps out all of the dark creatures which reside at the bottom layers of the Wateria ocean. All Mormidons can submerge under water becoming completely invisible, they are rapid swimmers and make for surprisingly powerful emerging ambush predators who tower over their prey. They can survive and thrive above ground and on land so long as they periodically wet their gills which will stop them from shriveling up.

There are 6 major species of Mormidon that have been discovered and exist within The Astarian Empire.
Mormidon, Paradon, Spinadon, Dimedon, Stegodon, Ankylodon
Mormidon:
The Mormidon is a large hybrid creature which features a large scaled serpent body and tail. They have a Finned Lizardmen top half with powerful arms. They come in a variety of bright hued colors featuring some sections of dark hued stripes which show what their main magical affinity is.
Paradon:
The Paradon is a large hybrid creature which features a large serpent body and tail covered in barbs. They have a flat duck-like beak with hundreds of tightly packed teeth and a long tubular backward-projecting crest that could reach 1 meter in length. Their top half consists of their large broad shoulders and powerful arms that have short claws. They come in a variety of dark hued colors featuring some sections of bright hued patterns which show what their main magical affinity is.
Spinadon:
The Spinadon is a massive hybrid creature which features a large serpent body and tail covered in spines. They have a long narrow skull with a small crest on top. They have conical serrated teeth designed for grasping and tearing prey which tried to escape. Their top half consists of wide shoulders and long slender arms that have enlarged hands with massive claws. Down their back they have a large thick high sail made of skin and long spinal vertebrae stretched across and down its back and some of the tail. They come in a variety of dark hued colors featuring some sections of bright hued splotch patterns which show what their main magical affinity is.
Dimedon:
The Dimedon is a small hybrid creature which features a serpent body and tail covered in spikes. Their top half is slender with small arms that have small sharp barbed talons. They have a deep boxy skull with a distinct, sharp set of teeth specialized for tearing prey. They have fins and a large sail protruding from the back of its head down its neck which is supported by long spines extending from the vertebrae. They come in a variety of dark hued colors featuring some sections of bright hued diagonal stripes which show what their main magical affinity is.
Stegodon:
The Stegodon is a large hybrid creature which features a large serpent body and tail covered in barbs. They have 6 to 14 large thick bony plates that stand vertically in staggered rows which go down the back and tail. They have a split jaw which opens downwards with s extending appendages that reveal a small maw with rows of teeth. Their top half is tall and wide with broad shoulders consisting of 4 powerful arms that have massive claws. They come in a variety of dark hued colors featuring some sections of bright hued patterns which show what their main magical affinity is.
Ankylodon:
The Ankylodon is a large heavily armored hybrid creature which features a serpent body with large protruding thick scales and 3 tails covered in large groups of fused bones into dense balls which they flail about. The Ankylodon has a broad fused skull with backward-pointing horns and a wide short snout. Its back was heavily protected by bony plates embedded in thick skin with large barbed center spikes. Their top half consists of powerful arms that have massive claws. They come in a variety of bright hued colors featuring some sections of dark hued stripes which show what their main magical affinity is.

After The Cataclysmic Shift
After the Great Cataclysmic Shift the Mormidon race began to develop reproductive organs making them no longer require females to lay their large Mormidon Eggs.

Playing Mormidons In TTRPG and or RPG Games:
In Role Playing Games, Mormidons are fast moving in water and slow moving on land as they fight differently depending on the environment they are in. Underwater they attack quickly, hitting hard and fast making them great hit and run swimmers. They have a much higher healing factor when in water. On land however they will hit much harder at a much slower rate.
Playing Mormidons In Turn Based Strategy and or RTS Games:
In strategy games Mormidons are fast moving ambushing swimming people who heal when under or in water. They are almost entirely invisible in the water and only seem to appear for a short time after they hit their prey.
