Naga

Naga Representing The Naga Race Of People.

Description

The Naga are serpent snake-like people who gained intelligence and developed arms to cast magic and use tools. They typically have 4 arms and the head and torso of the gender they are. Their bottom half is that of a serpent and they slither across the ground while their torso remains upright. As magic power fluctuates and changes, the Naga underwent changes on different worlds. Lamias developed as beautiful serpent people while Gorgons developed as Serpent People with humanoid top halves and Serpents for hair. All three species are similar but they do have different characteristics that make them each unique in the eyes of the Astarian Empire. The Naga are shamenistic like people who live by themselves deep in the woods and jungles of the swamps, even though they hail from the depths they enjoy time in the sun. Other species of Naga, the Lamia and Gorgon have developed ways to use magic even with only 1 pair of arms. While the Gorgons tend to be a secluded bunch, the Naga and Lamia are highly social creatures who enjoy being around others. While the Naga prefer other Seafolk, the Lamia prefers other land races.

Species And Faction

Species:
There are 3 major species of Naga that have been discovered and exist within The Astarian Empire.

Naga, Lamia, Gorgon

Naga:
4-8 armed serpent people who manipulate the ocean depths to further their powers. Known as Sea people, they tend to be top half women with some merfolk qualities and the bottom half as a serpent. They excel at ranged combat and magic spell craft as they can weave up to 8 spells at one time. They tend to mate with other Sea People and on rare occasions other races when they dwell on land. Mating with a Naga is seen as fortunate because they will just eat your organs when they're done with you and you could sometimes rarely survive. It is said that the more people they eat the stronger they become as they develop and grow larger with new arms shed away their past selves as they become pure in the eyes of the Gods as a new Naga each time they shed. While shedding their skin they become vulnerable and their personality is split from them. A life walked in the past, or their past life is sacrificed as they become a totally new person taking on the memories of those they ate, they sometimes will take their name but generally they will absorb their personality.

Lamia:
Lamia are 2 armed serpent people with scales around their face acting like a blush, they are long eared and beautiful people which allow them to become ideal mates to other races. They have some hypnosis and illusion based magics which allow them to attract unsuspecting victims. Lamias are creatures who consume those who enter their territory after allowing them to experience their desires, their body is then consumed for the growth of their offspring. When laying with those they adore or love, after their ritualistic mating periods they will exhaust them every day taking life energy to nourish their offspring until they emerge, at that point they devour the helpless bliss filled victim to fill their bellies and allow them to leave the Lamia’s nest and head off to make their own. Lamia aren’t all bad as they do on occasions protect people and can live near people. Many times they will be outside of a village which offers them food for protection and races like Orcs and Goblins know crossing their path will be their last experience on this world. A Den of Lamia foretells cataclysmic pleasure and decimation of an entire race or species on a world and this must be avoided at all times.

Gorgon:
Gorgons are 2 or 4 armed serpent people who have snakes for hair. They can use snake magic and ensnare their victims. While many think they can turn people to stone with a single gaze, only petrification magic is capable of doing that. Gorgons are gentle people who live well with other races and make for great protectors and brides. Many times they will use their powerful magic to protect their own. When weary travelers wander into their den they will awake with food and a blanket, dry clothes, and tonics to restore their bodies. Many will return and some may even find the Gorgon hiding from them. Tons of travelers are thankful and will give them gifts while some will continue to know them. This can cause mixed feelings within the Gorgon and they will become possessive and lustful towards their newfound friend. The Gorgon releases a chemical compound found in their sweat which they use to make potions and tonics as it tends to boost energy levels and stamina in most races. They become great and powerful users of illusion based magics to turn themselves into kind and friendly yet secluded apothecaries and potion makers. After many visits to a Gorgon they may begin to grow feelings and become attached, this has caused Gorgons to be very outgoing and friendly towards all their new friends. This causes the Gorgon to naturally release a powerful chemical drug which lures people into a relaxed bliss. As it is addicting they will constantly hang around the Gorgon befriending them to breathe in the natural Gorgon chemicals. This will lure them into the Gorgons domain and then the Gorgon will consume them. Starting at their feet making every bite as good as the last. They excel with most kinds of magic and only have issues when using Holy magic.

Culture

Their culture develops differently on every world, they will always follow their rules and directive in service to the Astarian Empire.

Astarian Empire's Thoughts

The serpent people make for great conversationists, it doesn't help that they tend to make 2 really good points.

After The Cataclysmic Shift

After the Great Cataclysmic Shift the Naga have become a proud race of serpents which have begun to be worshiped by local populace as protectors.
