What Is Magic:
Magic is studied within the vast empire through various schools, universities, and within the military itself. As magic has been discovered to be more scientific and researchable, more scholars have risen over the years becoming adventurers collecting knowledge in the field for others to learn. Magic is learned and understood by a larger group of people and then they collectively come together to understand and use this magical energy to cast spells which are made using their various worlds rules and laws on magic. As the empire spreads throughout the stars they begin traveling to various worlds to collect more information and knowledge on what magic truly is. Magic has furthered the development and understanding of many worlds as it can bridge technological gaps providing innovation for a new magical technological world. As magic has become the be all and end all across many worlds, the empire employs powerful magic casters to go to worlds to perform various tasks and missions to better the empire. Understanding and researching magic has led the empire to discover much as to what it is as a whole.
Magic Power And You:
Magic comes from one’s Magic Core or Magical Core. This is a muscle like all others in the the body and can be trained and increased. Instead of it increasing its size like all other muscles, it increases the rate at which it sends magical energy throughout the body and the rate at which it creates magical energy. It is different sized for different races as it is generally ¼ the size of one's heart. Larger races like Demons, Dragons, Orcs, Minotaurs, Giants and others will have a huge magical reserve while smaller races like Pixies, Fairies, and others will have a smaller amount of magic energy at their disposal. Just because a Magical Core is small, doesn’t mean it is less effective than larger cores.
It is understood that as one uses magic they are only using up to 80% of their possible power at any given time which is limited by their training of their Magical Core. As one casts Maximum magic, they can use 100% of the required magical power to deal increased damage to the enemy, it is harder to do and requires much more power but is extremely worthwhile. As the empire studied how magical casts were different between experienced casters and the Magistrates and Supremes, they discovered at some point when one becomes so strong they just begin bypassing the muscle all together and casting magic at maximum power every time. Research into the Magistrates and Supremes have uncovered a massive growth of this Magical Core which used to be ¼ the size of the heart to now encase the entire heart allowing for a near unlimited supply of magic. Their body has naturally made the muscle curve around their heart and not kill them due to their intense power and pressure. Some people will train their body so much they will begin to get a unique form of magical sickness, magical sickness occurs when the muscle begins to shrivel up and die, in this case however it occurs when one trains too much and the muscles begins to sporadically grow into the heart causing heart damage.
Magic has been understood as an energy source within the body. Specifically there is a new organ that is formed next to and attached to one's heart and lungs, the Magic Core or Magical Core. It is a small tubular muscle which pumps into the heart and lungs and this is said to be where magic comes from. All creatures and races that use magic have this muscle within their body and through intense research it is discovered this muscle has a few different functions. All documentation of the Magical Core and Monster Cores will be covered on another section.
How Does Magic
Change You:
From the research of monsters and creatures, due to their simple processes and lack of intelligence their body has no need to regulate this muscle so it will solidify and grow into the heart making it the Core. A Monster Core is not just their weak point but also where all their power is stored. On many worlds the people collect these monster cores since they are a super condensed solidified magical power source, the collected Monster Cores are grinded into a powder and used to generate a magical energy like electrical energy. The Monster Cores are crystal shard shaped and come in many sizes as the monster grows in not only power, age, and ferocity but surviving the many challenges it faces. Starting as a shard the size of currency it can grow to be the size of large armor pieces and the local adventuring guilds will pay top dollar for them. On some worlds the adventurers collect body parts to signify their claim and to turn in for trade goods. On some worlds they will do both, a world's magic system can be interesting to those who are not a resident of, but they are universally similar with the ability to use magic.
Magical Training For
Different Worlds:
Many worlds have their own unique magical systems and this can catch novice explorers and adventurers off guard. If you cast magic by hand signs and saying the spell name which is normal to you, it may be seen as a treasonable act violating the gods on a world where they cast magic via runework and drawn circles. There are times where the world casts magic using only their mind, or by consuming certain metals or rocks. To combat this possible issue, adventurers take a required crash course on the world before they go as well as have a manual on how to do simple and basic spells by type. This includes just everyday magic used as combat spells, like fire bolt, water ball, wind gust, and stone wall. Although these spells are extremely weak, they are highly versatile and this allows for the user to sneak in some actual spells to catch unsuspecting enemies off guard. The general rule of thumb is to use all aspects to cast a spell, due to how most worlds change parts of their magical casting.
This can be written off as a sage's apprentice who lived in the woods and studied magic from the ancient texts. That is why you still use your hands, or that is why you still chant the spell. This is usually the response after a curious look and then they understand you are not from there. A decent cover story which works most of the time. There are times where the adventurers will get into hot trouble, but in that situation they will follow their escape methods and chain of command to get out of that situation.
History Of Magic
The main question on everyone's mind, what truly is magic and where did it come from?
The history of magic is extremely simple while most are unknown to it, some dedicated scholars have learned the truth and it is an unsettling one. In the beginning the Supreme King Astar used a hybrid creature of The First Insect and The First Arachnid to create the Swarm. From this he had them create massive tunneling worms which were shot out by large meteorites as they would crash land on a planet their carapace would crack open and create a large cloud of toxins. These airborne toxins would be blown around by the world's winds and it began to change what it touched. A smaller worm would dig deep underground towards the world’s core as it would use the warmth for its growth and would slowly reproduce over vast centuries making another worm before it would decay and become food for the next. This process slowly released magical power into the ground and onto the world in a slow process allowing the world to use magic power. The next generations of populace began to use magic unique to their world as they slowly got passed on to the next. Flora and Fauna became more deadly as magic changed and enhanced them, many races of monsters became intelligent and sentient as they began to fight for survival, large hybrid creatures began to form due to the magical particles influencing nearby animals. Chaos erupted on once peaceful worlds as magic was an illness, a sickness, a huge detriment, and now is a boon and a blessing.
Magical Schools:
Across the galaxy under the empire's control, many set out to become adventurers as a job profession and undergo schooling to become one. After all the basic schooling is finished one can either become an adventurer or one who studies magic with the ability to write guides for others to learn from. The major schools of magic are available as a focus once the general basic variants are learned, the 7 major fields of magical studies are: Physic Magic, Chemistry Magic, Biological Magic, World Science Magic, Environmental Magic, Psychic Magic, and Anthropology Magic. Each one has a huge following of students and researchers as they are massive university buildings where any are free to learn from. As they study alongside the other races, they have different goals and aspirations which runs parallel to their thirst for knowledge. Whether it be for the benefit of their people on a far away world, for the understanding to become a better adventurer, or to know what others don’t, all reasons are valid in the pursuit of knowledge. Each one of the main 7 fields of magic are based around the main 7 fields of science and are studied at the same fervor and rates across the galaxy. Many choose to take advanced training in the field of their studies like biology and magical biology. This allows them to fully research and know how the regular and magical biological processes change and differ between each other on various species of creatures or monsters around them. Fundamentally the only difference between a Monster and a Creature is that a Monster is a magically changed normal animal that isn’t naturally hostile. Creatures are born and evolved from the raw magical energies of the worlds making new and changed creatures which are different from Monsters. A fire breathing rabbit is a Monster while a dragon with rabbit features breathing fire is a Creature. This is learned through various teachings but generally one can easily tell the difference with some Anthropology or Biology Magical study. Physic Magic
Is the study and Knowledge base for all manner of Energy and Natural forces. Spells that fall under Physics Magic generally include Thermal Energy, Electricity, Kinetic Energy, Radiation, Force and Gravity.
Chemistry Magic
The study of Matter and its changes, Whether Naturally or Magically. Spells that fall under Chemistry Magic generally deal with the composition of Matter, Rocks, Minerals, Various Chemical combinations and Liquids. It governs the use of making Oils, Liquids, Medicines, Potions, Tonics, Elixirs, Poisons, and Antidotes.
Biological Magic
The study of life and all aspects that include life. It is the largest study of many researchers and many tend to focus on key aspects and not of the entire study of life. It is the study of plants, animals, monsters, creatures, abnormal and corporeal entities. It covers the understanding and study of an organism's anatomy, biochemistry, botany, developmental biology, ecology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, monology, neurobiology, and zoology.
Anatomy: The study of the structure of organisms and their parts under magical influence.
Biochemistry: The study of the chemical processes within living organisms when magical influences are acting within them.
Botany: The study of plants as magic has changed them and caused them to adapt.
Developmental Biology: The study of how organisms grow and develop under magical influence.
Ecology: The study of the interactions between magic based organisms and their magically infused environments.
Genetics: The study of genes, heredity, and genetic variation as magic changes one's body.
Immunology: The study of the immune system of organisms as magic strengthens or weakens it.
Microbiology: The study of microorganisms under magical influence and development, like bacteria and viruses which affect one's magical systems and other magic based diseases.
Monology: The study of monsters and creatures and how magic has changed them and caused their development.
Neurobiology: The study of the nervous system and how magic is transported throughout the body.
Zoology: The study of animals and how magic has changed them and caused their development.
World Science Magic
Astronomy, geology, meteorology, and oceanography come under world sciences, analyzing the world's structure and processes as well as the stars and galaxy around them as magic influences all manner of things.
Environmental Magic
This discipline explores how humanoid intelligent racial activities impact ecosystems and offers solutions for sustainability with magic as a focus.
Psychic Magic
A leading social sciences subject, psychology studies humanoid intelligent racial behavior and mental processes as magic develops one's mind and influences their development.
Anthropology Magic
This field studies humanoid intelligent racial evolution, cultures, and societies from their perspectives by the worlds they hail from.
